Hurricane season in the Eastern Pacific runs June 1 – November 30. The most active months for Los Cabos are August and September. Here's what that actually means for your trip:

Ocean safety
Most Cabo beaches have strong Pacific currents and rip tides. Medano Beach is the main safe swimming beach. Always swim near lifeguards and heed red/yellow flag warnings.
Heat & sun
Summer temperatures regularly hit 95°F+ with high humidity. Drink water constantly, wear SPF 50+, and take midday breaks in the shade. Heat exhaustion is the #1 tourist health issue.
Water & food
Drink bottled or purified water only — tap water is not safe for tourists. Reputable restaurants use purified water for ice and cooking. Street food is generally fine at busy stalls.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers medical evacuation. US health insurance rarely covers international care. World Nomads and Allianz are popular options for Mexico travel.
Pharmacies
Farmacia Similares and Farmacia del Ahorro are the main chains in Cabo — open late, affordable, and many medications available over the counter that require prescriptions in the US.
Vaccinations
No vaccinations are required for Los Cabos. The CDC recommends being up to date on routine vaccines. Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines are sometimes recommended for longer stays.
